Being Professional On Social Media

By Franklin Skribbit

One of the major privacy-related concerns among American is the fear of leaked medical records. While some of us may not think about it, medical records contain some of the most intimate details about a person's life, including physical health, mental health, social behaviors, personal relationships, and even financial status.

Delete the Dirt

Creating a safe work environment may seem like an overwhelming task, it can be accomplished without too much hassle and no matter what; it will be worth it in the long run. When employees feel unsafe or insecure in their workplace, they are unable to accomplish the things they need to get done.

One of the most effective ways to prevent a breach of your privacy is to simply think things through. If you happen to be carrying health information with you, make sure you always know where it is and keep it out of sight (in a purse or backpack) when you're not using it. Additionally, only access your medial information for valid reasons like treatment, care, and billing.

Sexual harassment is one of the most common and the most awful forms of harassment. When it takes place in the office, it is not only inappropriate, but also bad form and creates an environment of fear and discomfort.

Once you've cleaned up your Facebook, Tumblr, or Twitter, you want to keep it that way. Each time you post a picture, video, or status update take a moment to review what you are putting on the internet. Nothing is truly private and no matter how hidden you think it may be, you can never be sure and I guarantee that you would much rather be safe than sorry.

IF you or someone you know is being harassed based on their sexual orientation, it is extremely important for you to report it to a supervisor and make sure that the matter is resolved, and proper steps are taken to correct the issue.

Personal and Professional

There is still a pervading idea in this nation that throwing something away is a good way to dispose of it. Unfortunately, that is simply not the case. Identity theft often occurs because an unsavory character is intuitive enough to look through your garbage.

With appropriate harassment training, each employee can be aware of what is and is not appropriate in the workplace, and how to properly approach an inappropriate situation. Keeping the workplace a safe and happy environment is one of the most important parts of a successful and productive environment. When employees feel comfortable in their office, they are more likely to produce more and often better work.
